We came to Thunder Bay for the day from where we were staying at Grand Marais to do some sightseeing since it was a little rainy back there. We stopped in at this Applebee's for lunch.
I ordered a burger (I think it was called a cowboy burger. Can't remember off the top of my head at this moment) and my dad ordered a chicken caesar salad. My dad says his chicken caesar was good, and my burger was good.
They accept US dollars here, which is good news for people coming from the US...however, as of the time I write this review, 1 Canada dollar is equal to about 89 US cents, and if you give them US money, they treat it as Canadian money. In other words, $50 CAD is equal to $50 USD there. It's slightly a ripoff with the exchange rates nowadays.
Most US Applebee's have free wifi, but I guess the Canadian restaurants don't, or maybe it was just the particular place we went to.
Overall, everything was good. We may come back if we do come back to Thunder Bay. -

Was not expecting a great gastronomic experience at an Applebee's and we were not disappointed. Spinach & artichoke dip was boring and bland but there was lots of it. Butcher's meat & potato was a mish mash of mush and definitely unfinishable after the dip.

I ordered a pick your 7 ounce steak with two sides. The sides were Cole Slaw and broccoli, the broccoli was ok and the Cole slaw was good. My steak was a B+. Sat in bar area while we eat, service was nice and made sure we were attended to.

I have, a few times , but I wouldn't again so don't bother.
The problem with these places ( chain restaurants) is that there is no... Absolutely NO good reason to spend your hard earned money at these places!! For the same cash you can get local restaurants that have food that is hands down better. They aren't cheap and even deals aren't deals. If I did go I would get the salad, as hot food is usually sub par , again in contrast with locally owned offerings. Boston pizza is probably the only one ( chain ) I would go to. -

This place was a let down from the minute we walked in. We got inside and got seated and it was at least 10 minutes until someone came to check on us and it wasn't even her section. She took our order and was awesome but then they were out of mashed potatoes for the entree that we wanted to order. We reordered and there must have been a miscommunication between her and our waitress because we got food that we didn't even order and didn't get what we ordered and still got charged for both. I left paying about $10 extra that I shouldn't have had to pay.
